Sustainability

At Rainbow, sustainability is one of our core values. We are eco-minded with the ambition to preserve the planet through green initiatives as well as the early education and involvement of our children.

Opening a Forest School is another step forward in sustainability, providing our children with an understanding of nature and its benefits to form a foundation of eco awareness for years to come. Rainbow’s Forest School initiative is committed to preserving the environment and building respect for biodiversity and community from a young age.

Children at all Rainbow Day Nursery have a range of high quality produce and where possible, eat locally sourced food. This prevents unnecessary processing, transportation and waste. Our ambition is for zero food waste across our nurseries. Rainbow also supports sustainability in the local community by using charity shops as a means to reuse items that are no longer needed.

Reusing & Recyling

Reusing and recycling are key areas of learning at Rainbow. Children are taught about the importance of reusing materials like paper to find new ways to play without creating unnecessary waste. Children gain an understanding of recycling and its benefits by helping staff to fill recycling boxes and food bins. Recycles materials can even be used to make eco gardens and bug hotels to give children further exposure to nature and biodiversity!

Our sustainability policies are led by green champions, who are individuals that are dedicated to helping the planet through education and growth.
