Parent Zone Link

Integral to the way we work at RDN is the inclusion of parents in every aspect of their child’s well-being and development.

We believe it is critical that nursery practitioners understand each child’s family, culture and community. We can then use this knowledge meaningfully, supporting each child through the highest possible levels of care. For help on using our Parent Zone please use the link below:

How we support our parents:

  • Recognise and support parents as their child’s first and most important educators and to welcome them into the life of the nursery
  • Maintain regular contact with parents to help us to build a secure and beneficial working relationship for their children
  • Operate a key person system to enable parents to establish a close working relationship with a named practitioner and to support two-way information sharing about each child’s individual needs both in nursery and at home. Parents are given the name of the key person when the child starts
  • Inform parents how the nursery supports children with special educational needs and disabilities
  • Actively encourage parents to contribute to children’s learning through sharing observations, interests and experiences from home. This may be  verbally, sharing photographs or observations via Parent Zone

How you can get involved:

  • Home activities to be shared through Parent Zone as appropriate
  • We would love you to share with us your talents and interests, please chat to us about this
  • Gather resources with your children
  • Social events e.g. sports day, Christmas play, parties, fun days
    • Contribute to themed weeks activities –
    •  e.g. Recipes for a healthy eating week or reading a story to the children for book week
  • Attending parents evenings and discussions
  • Supporting sponsored events and charity weeks
  • Suggesting activities, contributing to planning and sharing your child’s interests.
